PROJECTS

Hibernia Bank Federal Tax Credits

LOCATION: 1 Jones Street, San Francisco, California
CLIENT: Landmark Construction
DATE COMPLETED: Underway

Building on the 2008-09 Historic Structure Report prepared by Chris VerPlanck and others, VerPlanck Historic Preservation Consulting was retained by Landmark Construction/Dolmen Property Group to prepare an application for Federal Rehabilitation Tax Credits for the rehabilitation of the long-dormant Hibernia Bank Building for commercial and/or assembly use.

The scope of work included coordinating with the Office of Historic Preservation (OHP) and the National Park Service (NPS) and submitting the required application forms (Parts I, II, and III), as well as drawings, maps, and photographs.

The project is considered to be an ideal candidate for federal tax credits and it was recently approved by state and federal authorities. VerPlanck has been involved every step of the way with the rehabilitation, including consulting with the property owner and their architect on proper treatments of the building's exterior and interior stone finishes, preparing an inventory and specifications for the historic light fixtures, and presenting the project before local review bodies, including the San Francisco Historic Preservation Commission.
